SECTION ONE:   Introduction:
Factory farming, a method of mass-producing meat and animal products, has allowed us to produce food on an unprecedented scale. However, the environmental impact of this practice is often overlooked. In this lesson,  we will examine the consequences of factory farming and meat production on the environment, including pollution, deforestation, and greenhouse gas emissions.

SECTION TWO:   Paragraph 1: Pollution
Factory farming generates significant amounts of pollution in various forms. For example, large amounts of manure are produced by the billions of animals raised each year. This waste often makes its way into our water sources, contaminating them with harmful chemicals and diseases. Additionally, heavy use of pesticides and fertilizers in growing feed crops can lead to hazardous runoff, further polluting soil and water supplies.

              1.  What are crops?
              2. What is a bulking body?
              3. “To whither way”  what does this expression mean?
              4. ” To nod off” what does this expression mean?
              5. “Her fate” What is fate?
              6. “A Quirk”  What is a quirk?
              7. What is “dawn”?
              8. What does “Keeping people in the dark” mean?

SECTION THREE:   Paragraph 2: Deforestation
To accommodate ever-increasing demand for meat products, vast areas of forests are cleared to create space for livestock and feed production. According to research by the World Resources Institute (WRI), approximately 80% of deforestation in Brazil is linked to cattle ranching. Deforestation not only destroys vital ecosystems but also contributes to climate change by releasing carbon dioxide stored in forests.

1. In the sentence, “Global warming is causing drastic changes in our climate,” identify the subject and predicate.

2. Correct the following sentence’s grammar: “Due to global warming, glaciers is melting and sea levels rise quickly.”

3. Identify the tense of the verb in this sentence: “Carbon dioxide emissions have accelerated global warming.”

4. Combine these two sentences using a relative pronoun: “Many species are struggling to survive. They are affected by global warming.”

5. Replace the underlined phrase with an appropriate phrasal verb: “Scientists are working together to _search for alternatives_ to fossil fuels.”

6. Turn this simple sentence into a compound sentence using a coordinating conjunction: “Global warming causes extreme weather events; we must take action.”

7. Identify any misplaced or dangling modifiers in this sentence: “To reduce waste, global warming can be addressed by embracing a circular economy.”

8. Rewrite this passive voice sentence in active voice: “Around the world, greenhouse gas emissions are being reduced by proactive governments.”

9. Correct the following sentence’s punctuation: “It’s important to reduce deforestation, plant more trees create sustainable policies and support renewable energy sources to combat global warming.”

10. Identify the antecedent of the pronoun in this sentence: “Our dependence on fossil fuels contributes to global warming, and it must be reduced.”

SECTION FOUR:    Paragraph 3: Greenhouse Gas Emissions
Meat production is one of the primary contributors to global greenhouse gas emissions. According to the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), livestock production accounts for around 14.5% of global greenhouse gas emissions. Methane released from livestock digestion is a potent greenhouse gas with a warming potential up to 28 times greater than carbon dioxide over a 100-year period. Moreover, processing facilities that produce meat products also release significant amounts of CO2 into the atmosphere.

SECTION FIVE:    Conclusion:
Factory farming and meat production pose significant risks to our environment through pollution, deforestation, and greenhouse gas emissions. In order to reduce the impact of these industries on our planet, we need to promote alternative and sustainable food sources, implement stricter regulations, and encourage a reduction in meat consumption. By taking collective action, we can work towards preserving our ecosystems and ensuring a healthier future for generations to come.

Write a 100-word paragraph about the effects of global warming on our planet. In your paragraph, include one example of each perfect tense: present perfect, past perfect, and future perfect. Remember to focus on how global warming has impacted the environment, what actions have been taken so far, and what steps will be vital in addressing this issue in the future.
