What is Patreon? Everything you need to know about the subscription service for content creators
Patreon is an American membership platform that provides business tools for content creators to run a subscription service. It helps creators and artists earn a monthly income by providing rewards and perks to their subscribers.
Why do Renata and I use Patreon? 
For the last few years Renata and I have been trying to get a project going to help Brazilian people, especially young Brazilians to learn English. In Brazil there is a very large poverty gap between the middle classes and the lower classes. The average monthly salary for a working class person in Brazil is around R$900 to R$1000 Brazilian Reals per month which at today’s exchange rate April 2022 is about £147 UK a month. An average professional English person in the UK might earn that amount in a day. After living in Sao Paulo for around ten years it’s clear to me that living costs such as food and white goods cars etc are much higher than in the UK. With this in mind it’s not hard to understand that paying for English lessons would be an impossibility. Simply living and surviving are the priority.
So, Renata and I set up this project to help give subsidized lessons to anyone who can’t afford the lessons. We ask people to donate a small amount of money each month through the Patreon system to assist us. Below is the link to our Patreon website page. It’s a simple process. Simply click on the level of support you want to offer and that’s it. The money will be taken automatically each month.
